I am curious about the superdrive loading mechansim in the new 17" iMac which I have on order.

Is it one where the cd/dvd snaps into the tray and you manually push it in, or pull it out from the half out position like some laptops?

Or is it the better (IMO) drop in type, which automatically extends fully out when the cd is ejected?

The iMac uses the same Pioneer AO4 drive as the G4 towers. It is a fully mechanized drive, not laptop style. The drive fully extends open and pulls itself completely closed when you hit the eject key again.
