[22:01] and i'm not sure if that's opensource
[22:01] wonderful
[22:01] btw, what are you writing?
[22:02] im writting an app to allow users to share their iTunes libraries via http. loki
[22:02] sounds nice
[22:04] it has a lokiBot which sits on irc and tells other lokiBots its ip and get the other lokiBots ips and sends them to loki. which initializes a table based on all participating users iTunes library.xml
[22:04] heh
[22:05] i was testing last night with 3 million songs. wasnt exactly fast for sorting the collumns. =) was using 650 megs of ram too.

This definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me. It is possible for faulty (or just unexpected) hardware to work on one OS and not on another version of the same OS. It all depends on what the IO-Kit authors changed between versions.

I suggest trying different RAM, trying a different video card (that's my bet), trying a different network card, etc.

By the way, you haven't told us what hardware you're running. If it's an iMac, try running Apple's Hardware Test CD.
I'm running an iBook 500 CD-ROM with 320 MB of PC133 2-2-2 RAM, IBM TravelStar 40GN 40.0 GB hard drive, stock everything else.

Definitely hardware-related. I've got an iBook 500 DVD with 384 MB of "cheap-ass" RAM and an IBM TravelStar 40GB 40.0 GB hard drive I haven't yet installed (been sitting in a box in the kitchen for a month), and I've had zero problems.

Suggestion: Try it with your extra RAM removed, or with a different stick installed.

Already done.

I think I just need to save up for a 12" Powerbook. Rev B of course.

No. See, the version you download THERE will be the old 1.1 version which only smooths text.

The version in that screenshot is an unfinished version currently in Alpha. You can find it by browsing through the www.unsanity.org logs. If it's still available.

You're looking for Silk 1.5a2.

Yeah, it's the Silk alpha. Takes a little while to figure it out though. You set the type font you want to replace Lucida Grande in the third panel of the pref pane.

You can find it here....
http://www.unsanity.org/archives/2003_01.php
or the download link is....
http://www.unsanity.org/rosyna/silk-...arning.dmg.sit

nice name huh? It works great though.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
