My logic board has been replaced 3-4 times. My computer now has more problems than before, 4 weeks after i got it back from Apple repairs. Going to send it back this weekend (I'm going to try doing a clean install first) and argue for a new or refurbished iBook.

Ordered my 700 14.1" right after the model was announced about June 1, 2002, worked great until Jan. 2, 2003, got the logic board replaced and has been great since. Got the horizontal lines gradually leading to lock up and no boot. Before that had occasional issues with one speaker going in and out, which I have not had since, and am assuming that also was an issue with the logic board. I was pleased with the service I got, and have purchased Applecare since, and needed it when the battery suddenly got weak, and was promptly replaced. It is used a lot every day, so I really am not displeased, although that is more Applecare service than I have had on the previous 3 Macs I have had, starting in 1990. They were all desktops, and I had to call only once for a Performa monitor. Hope I don't need it again, but I think Applecare is probably a good idea on portables.

I had the same screen problems on my Ibook and then it went dead.
Called Apple Thursday got the box on Friday, shipped the same Friday and got
it back on Tuesday.

New logic board + Battery + Care Kit?

Had it for a few days no problems, works the same.

Note:
Make sure you always have a copy of your system on a firewire HD made with CCC it saves
you a lot of headaches.
