Lately I've noticed IE 5.0 (and 5.5b) distorting JPEGs. On any random webpage, a JPEG image(s) is rendered blocky (mosaic), grey, and solarized. This can happen on any webpage (from Amazon to any random home page). If I hit refresh, sometimes it corrects itself. I've tried to pin the problem down to a memory problem, IE/MS preferences, etc - but have been unable to remove the problem.

Can anyone help?

I took a screenshot as an example of the image problem:

This might not do anything at all, or you may have already tried doing it, but sometimes trashing your preferences file can solve problems. i would be careful and check that you are not deleting anything valuable before actually doing it.

I tried deleting preferences (including Internet Preferences), but it has not removed the problem.

Can anyone offer any ideas/help?

Thanks!

Back up your bookmarks (excuse me, "favorites") and reinstall IE, that's probably the next step I'd try...
