Most people probably heard that President Clinton was in New York doing a signing for his book. Well since I had nothing to do, I got up at 7am, went up to Barnes & Noble (48th & 5th), and got on a line that wrapped all the way to 6th Avenue and up to 49th St at maybe 9:15ish. There were already a ton of people. Clinton was supposed to arrive at 12:30. He arrived at around 1:00, and his motorcade drove by where I was standing. The line started moving, very slowly fifteen minutes later.

I finally got inside at around 3pm. The B&N security guards checked to make sure everyone had a wristband, which they had given out earlier. There was a short line ahead, and next to it was a table. You had to put cameras, cell phones, pens, loose change, keys, etc. in a bag and stick it on the table along with the book (which had to be opened to the title page.) There were maybe 5-6 Secret Service agents (yes, they looked like they do in the movies ) who wanded everyone and checked bags before they went on to where President Clinton was sitting.

After security, I took my book and walked over to where Clinton was sitting. I shook his hand, and as he was signing my book I told him, "We need you back!" He said, "You're so kind...thank you very much." (I could tell he was very tired...and he still had a lot more people, plus *another* signing an hour later!)

Anyway...did anyone else get a chance to go?

The title of his book should be, "A Stained Presidency"

The book has been panned. If you don't know what is in it by now...

No, none that I heard of.
This one guy across the street had a sign. It had three pictures. The first was the Jefferson Memorial; second was the Lincoln Memorial; and the third was the Clinton Memorial, which was an open zipper on a pedestal.

So, anyway, have you started reading the book yet, zachs? If so, how's it going?

Ha-ha... I don't need to read the book. I know what is in it. I was awake for his presidency. Great satire.

Under HIS age, NOT underage. She was a consenting adult as was he. He commited adultery, nothing more, nothing illegal. Again, grow up. When will the conservatives get over Clinton's ****?

It isn't just about his presidency.
It's about his entire life...hence the title, "My Life."

He'll say that its a few bad apples, etc etc.

To be honest I think clinton was a pretty damn good president. At least he didn't going waving the bible around while bombing the brains out of whomever he disliked.

He's going to be at Cody's in Berkeley on Tuesday the 22nd. I can't be there because of work but my roommate might make it.

(BTW, my roommate leans right on most things, but just thinks it'd be cool to "meet" Bill Clinton.)

If you can't make it to Berkeley, you might want to try to make it to the signing later that day down in San Jose.

Sodomy didn't take place. She blew him (on multiple occasions) and he used a cigar (on at least one occasion) to have vaginal sex with her.

Was it wrong? Absolutely!
Was it an abuse of power? Probably!
Was it worth all the time/energy/vitriol generated by the Starr Commission and the political right? Absolutely NOT!

I think the real issue was his lying in a deposition and lying under oath. No?

To be fair...

Monica was sorta pudgy and I can't say with 100% certainty that I, myself, wouldn't have lied about boinking that ass.

As president, I could have done better.

For sexual predators like myself and Mr Clinton, a revelation of that scale could be career-ending. That is, the potential future inability to score with hot chicks.

Why do pople feel the need to shiat in other people threads and resort to name calling.
If you don't give a shiat about the book, or the former president, why even click on the thread?

Anyway, I hope to be at a signing here shortly1

I would not stand in line period. The last thing that I stood in line for the Panther Party last October, about 2 hours.

I can never imagine what goes through a persons mind to stand in line like that. Especially a man that his demeaned the office of the president.

We stood/sat in line for 46 hours in the hot streets of south miami for a free Smashing Pumpkins concert & signing, I can attest that at that point :nothing: is going thru your mind.

p.s. Sorry Clinton has demeaned the presidency in your mind, may others like him

My guess is Sodomy is whatever that person feels is "unnatural"

But you are right. It usually only pertains to anal sex.

Would you be so apologetic if Bush had as many allegations of sexual harassment against him?

Clinton isn't as bad as some people claim he was. I joke on him somewhat. He DID have problems keeping his hands to himself.

You know, I wouldn't vote for Bill in 94. But I MIGHT be tempted to vote for Bill if he could run again.

I have seen him on TV. His persona. He isn't the egotistical man he was then. I think he has changed for the better.

It could just be for the fact he doesn't have the nag nipping at his balls now. I seriously think Clinton would have been a better pres had he married someone else.

But then again, he probably wouldn't have got there without the nag.

I just read the condensed version on slate.com where they took all the juicy bits and put them in one article. Good stuff.

People need to use they're own minds when judging politicians. And almost all of them have some good stories to tell. That's sort of the point of this book, and the fact that Clinton is a rather intelligent guy, and loves to talk about anything hopefully means there's some good stories in there.

Oh, I am not a Clinton apologist by any stretch of the imagination. He got my vote in 92 but not in 96. And I am not attempting to bash the bashers. The guy couldn't keep his pants zipped but that is problematic for many men, especially men in positions of power (social, financial, organizational, or otherwise). However, Clinton just happens to be in a position where if he gets caught with his pants down it has significant, and potentially severe, public ramifications.

Now, does this mean Clinton is a letch? Absolutely.
Should $45 million have been spent to find that out? I don't think it should have. But that's just me.

Indeed

It wasn't just about the Monica thing. He had problems with forcing himself onto women.

I think that is pretty darn serious.

Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes.

Like I have said, the Clinton today, isn't the same Clinton in the 90s. I mean at least he doesn't come off that way.

He is a bit more humble.
