hey guys,

just picked up a MBP 1.83GHz off of craigslist for $1100!!!
BRAND NEW SEALED
now, before i un-seal it, can someone tell me if the 512mb RAM is 1 dimm or 2 x 256?
also, i heard the wine sound is based on when your mbp was built.
how do i find out which build week this thing is?
man, i want to open it so bad, but i'm trying to decide if i should keep this, or sell it and buy a regular macbook and put some extra money in my pocket.

i believe the $1100 deal i got was amazing, but just want to make sure my early build MBP won't have a lot of problems.

any answer / advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

1100 for a macbook pro? wow thats the best deal i have seen ever on a mac portable
why would you even consider the macbook> when you have the pro? i guess is all about preference btu im pretty sure you will have the whine issue but i must say i had my logic board repleaced and now the macbook does not whine and it runs way cooler then before-i remember seeing 65c im looking @ core duo temp and is @ 49c love it. On my macbook is 1 stick of 512

yeah.. thats a great deal. it should be a single DIMM. mine was. the build date can be determined from the serial number on the outside of the box... W86XX where XX is the build week. mine is a week 13 build and i don't have any whine issues (at least none that i have noticed).

mine's week 12
alright well, i'm gonna think about it a coupla more hours and then decide if i wanna open it or not.
I swear, once you open these factory sealed items, price drops couple hundred dollars

oh yea, is laptop cooler required to keep these guys cool?

also, is 1 gig memory enough?

Thought I was lucky when I bought mine for $1600. I'll take it for $1200 if you ever change your mind.
