Yes, because it is a full installer. Also it installs a fixed version of the disc recording framework that was broken (not prebound) in the 2.01 release. (check your 2.01 iTunes installer log - the prebinding failed for the disc recording framework ) The bug which caused the prebinding to fail was a very basic Framework programming bug. So basic that it's basically a FAQ on the osx-dev list.
In the 2.02 installer log, we find:
update_prebinding: redo_prebinding on /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder:library: //System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskImages.framework/Versions/A/DiskImages (architecture ppc) prebinding not up to date with dependent dynamic shared library: //System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiscRecording.framework/Versions/A/DiscRecording.
I'm not sure if this is a complete failure, but "prebinding not up to date" can't be a good thing.
Still broken, i think.

huh? what are you trying to say?
sorry for the confusion, i was talking about the os 9 version.... iTunes 2 works great under OS X/german since day one. well lets say since v2.01
i posted
the annoying issue in the pre-os x section already, but nobody would answer me... so please understand my coarse disappointment when i had to find out that i still wasnt able to install iTunes 2 under os 9.

Good idea- after installing this I've had my third crash ever on OSX (all have been since upgrading to 10.1) it's very strange- I installed it and restarted.. then I tried to open iTunes and got the beachball o' death... I tried to force quite & nothing happened- i couldn't even quit IE or Netscape. I think it's because I have them auto-start/hide at login. I couldn't log out/restart- had to hard-boot... Force quit never failed once in 10.0- force quit doesn't seem to work as well in 10.1- i wonder what has changed..?
anyway- now iTunes works and everything is happy again- i just don't like having to hard boot.

what is wrong with the chinese? the titles of half my chinese songs turned into gibberish after playing them with iTunes 2.0.2! they were at least readable in 2.0.1... so much for proper unicode support! apple can be so frustrating sometimes...

Actually, considering the fact that the prebinding failed on 2.0.1, it does probably launch a (very tiny) bit faster.
But yes, i get the joke.

Indeed! Music written in 4/4 time is actually playing in 3/4 time.

One thing I never noticed bofore (though it might have been happening) is that now, when I quit iTunes (in OS X), my display shifts colors (as though I was switching display profiles) for about half a second, then back again.
Just curious as to why this is happening; it hasn't seemed to mess anything up.

moreno, Veteran, placer conocerlos. Seria chvere tener un iTunes en espaol, en vez de un Finder en espaol y iTunes en ingles tener todo en espaol.
tendre que provar 2.02 porque 2.01 hace unas cosas raras...

I had the same problem with my Japanese mp3s. Here's the fix: Convert all of your mp3s' ID3 tags from ASCII to ISO Latin-1. Once I did that then iTunes wouldn't turn them into gibberish. Unfortunately, that doesn't fix any of the files that iTunes already screwed up.
