If you are finding it difficult to set up AOL email by using IMAP settings, then you have to make sure that you are entering the correct information. Read the below-mentioned settings that are required for your AOL email setup:
Incoming server: imap.aol.com
Incoming port: 993
SSL security : SSL
Outgoing server: smtp.aol.com
Outgoing port: 587
Require sign-in: yes
Even enter the correct login credentials of your AOL account. If you find any problem even after implementing these settings, then call to communicate with the experts regarding this issue.

Surprising as it may seem, there are a few AOL holdouts who don't want to inform their contacts of a new email. However, they shouldn't contact this guy for help.

well me too. That's a badge of honor lest we forget those who fell during the battles of iTools and MobileMe.

Absolutely agree on avoiding ISP email. It's a trap to prevent you from shopping for a better ISP. I use gmail for less-important stuff (shopping, commenting, youtube), and a paid service for important mail (banking, family, etc).

Same here. I still have a Yahoo account, and a Southwestern Bell account, which are associated with a bunch of stuff I enrolled in long before Gmail arrived. And I’ve done the work to keep those two accounts viable.

Now AOL? Nah. When I quit AOL, I quit clean.

I still have my Yahoo! account which has a bunch of things signed up to it. Got it in 1999.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Both my daughters have gmail accounts. They don’t have super unusual names but not Jane or Mary and our surname while not uncommon isn’t Jones or Smith. These two factors meant that even when they set them up back in (I suppose) 2008ish the both managed to get [email protected]. No silly numbers underscores or weirdness for them.
I still use my .mac address. As a result some people think I work for Apple.

I have my complete name @gmail.com, but have never used it. I registered just to camp it. Wonder if it's been rereleased to the wild...

There are sometimes this kind od errors with diferent websites like this, but also there are people helping to solving it as Spam Man with a good tutorial on how to fix the issue.
