So the California Government is spending a few mil on a special election this november, such things on the ballot include:

Prop 73 - Constitutional Amendment requiring "signed parental consent 48 hours prior to the abortion of an unborn child for unemancipated minors" during anytime of the pregnancy.

Prop 74 - Raising a teacher's tenure from 2 years to 5 years. And if a teacher receives two unsatisfactory annual reviews in a row, the teacher can be fired.

A few prescription drug props, a union dues prop, and an energy deregulation related prop.

Unfortunately, we can't even spell our own name right on the absentee ballot. Just got mine today. Here's the scan:

Seems like a pretty convincing argument for unsatisfactory annual reviews for whoever ‘taught’ the person to spell that created the ballot.

Umm no one is ousting Ahnold. If anything I hope people have learned their lesson about this whole recall thing. There hasn't been a lick of change since Ahnold took office. Things in California aren't bad. But they're not great either.

Maybe that's the way they say it in Austria, native country of your governor?

Prop 73, 74, 78, 79 and 80 were not put forward by the Governor. Those five were all signature gathered, approved initiatives, waiting for the next election which happened to be this special election.

I didn't notice the spelling error when I voted absentee. Each ballot is individually produced (San Diego has a mayor's race, other places have added special elections too) so it might be a local printing foul up.

It is funny though. Maybe we do need better teachers.

It's very sad, but amusing.

Maybe it's "Spanglish?"

Glad to see my fellow Claifornians are voting! Thanks for taking the special election seriously! Here in Ventura County we have NOTHING on the ballot except the props.

I have to say that in most things a spelling error is just an example of lack of attention to detail. But on an ABSENTEE BALLOT, WHICH IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT, it can be very important. In fact, (depending on how California's constitiution and absentee voting laws are written) it could require some action by the legislature to make the ballots with California misspelled LEGAL.

Voting is THAT important.

I definitely agree with you. it'd be one thing if it was just the label for the ballot like "Claifornia Ballot", but this misspelling was in the Voter's Absentee Affidavit, this is the part that you are supposed to sign stating that you are not committing fraud and not voting twice.

Hey, you should request a second absentee ballot, correct the spelling of Claifornia <man that's hard to type deliberately> and submit both. Muck up the works a bit and find out which one of them is really legal.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.
