I started noticing that some people are no longer around or at least coming back less frequently.

There's also some folks that have been asked to be self banned (not just pachead).

That being the case and because we cannot have threads about specific members What is the state of the union here at 'NN.

Its probably difficult to gauge losses because memberships stay in the system, but what's the general consensus. Don't get me wrong I'm not proclaiming 'NN is doomed, but I would like to others to chime in.

I've seen Boots and Chris V so I think we may have gained more than we lost.

If I weren't banning so many people, we'd probably be all right.

No, no, banning is good.

Dude, you need to learn to use the question mark... You are killing me!

I'm very happy with the current crop of members we have here. I don't need quantity, just some thoughtful contributers.

Dude you really need to relax and not be so anal with grammar

I'll tell you what. You let me worry about my grammar and you can worry about yours

back to the question at hand

what got me thinking was the fact that i noticed shifuimam asked to be banned and she moved her thread about her ibook mod to another site. she was posting here at lot for a while.

then of course was pachead but that was a different situation as he seemed to implode

im just sayin that we have lost some quality people and while we have gained some I was thinking if there was a common thread to people's disatisfaction.

other then besson being anal about grammar that is

I hadn’t seen shifu’s request (and don’t know whether it was accommodated), but these things happen all the time on Internet forums, not just at the moment, and not just here. It rarely (if ever) affects the overall situation of the forum.

'NN doesn't lose members, because old accounts are rarely closed. [/anal]

I do think that many old time members have left or are less active.
I have cut back 'NN time massively, too.

I talked to her about it on AIM. She was just tired of all of the bullshit and drama, and some of the more...ahem...irritating posters put her off of this place. Thanks assholes.

I can thank my 18-month old son for that one....

P.S. #2 is around the corner later this year, so I'll never be here.

Why would anyone ask to be banned? Why not just stop posting?

Missed that earlier. Congrats!

We've got another little position player coming later this year, too.

This thread is now about MacNN'ers families gaining members, even if MacNN is losing members....

Why is it strange. Different strokes for different folks. BPR has left a number of times only to come back. Others say goodbye and leave for good. Others just leave w/o posting anything. Of course others get banned voluntarily or otherwise.

If someone wants to leave they do so their own way, I don't think there's a "right" or "wrong" way to leave a forum. Does it matter that you don't understand why?
