Ghosts are an enigma. They mostly go around trying to scare people, and aside from Casper, when's the last time you heard of a friendly ghost? After playing Haunt the House: Terrortown, we can't say we blame them for all the spookiness, as it seems like quite a bit of fun.

Haunt the House: Terrortown is a game where you play as a ghost. What's the objective? Scare all the humans out of the structure in question as soon as you possibly can. You'll do this by possessing just about anything and everything that you can see. Once you're inside an object, you can perform a "spook," which is some sort of scary action that the humans in the area will notice. In the beginning, you'll just be able to rattle around and do fairly "weak" spooks, but as you accumulate scare points, you'll be able to do bigger, scarier spooks. For instance, in the beginning, you may only be able to move a lamp along the table, but once you've maxed out your scare points, you'll be able to flash the lights and send out bolts of electricity to scare people away.



Haunt the House: Terrortown has a sugary-sweet, super-cute feel to it, so we think that players of all ages would enjoy this. At no point is the game actually scary to anyone other than the humans within the game, and most of the spooks actually end up being pretty darn cute. The music and sound effects of the game add a cutely-creepy feel and fit with the theme perfectly.



Our biggest complaint is that sometimes while mashing a spook button, the ghost would forcefully eject from the object and fly to the bottom of the screen, which lost us some serious scare points. We wish that this would have been fixed by making it so you can only forcefully eject your incorporeal ghostliness by using the "leave object" button on the bottom right of the screen.



Haunt the House: Terrortown was a surprisingly fun play, though we will admit that the game does get a bit old after a while. Still, there's some sort of satisfaction that happens when you manage to force the last living occupant to flee your haunted home. It's not a game that we could see ourselves playing all day, but it's a fun game to play in a short sitting a few times a week, enough so that it'll probably earn a cozy spot on our iPad for quite some time. If you're looking for a goofy game to play, Haunt the House: Terrortown is available for both the iPad and the iPhone and costs $2.

If you're a fan of action puzzles, or you know a kid who is, this is a great game for puzzle lovers of all ages.

Who might not enjoy Haunt the House: Terrortown:
If you want something with a bit more action and a lot less puzzle, chances these tricks won't be a treat for you.
