I use an HP 6122 Deskjet with my rev.c 12" PB - more often than, not, I have trouble with a print job stalling in the middle of the job. The printer icon that has appeared in the dock now shows a red exclamation mark, and when I open it it says that printer jobs have stopped and I have to resume them. When I resume, they start from the beginning of the job. This is especially troublesome when using Quicken and printing checks, as I have to void the checks and re-enter the starting check number.

Has anyone else seen this problem before? I occasionally see it with my iMac as well. Running 10.3.5 on both machines.

I have seen this as an intermittent issue with various HP printers. There is a specific web page that I tried to print on my HP that consistently failed at the exact same point through the print.

See if there are driver updates available for your printer.

You can try this ....

Deleting and Re-adding Printer

1) Disconnect printer, power off.
2) Run "Disk Utility" from "Applications -> Utilities", repair permissions (precautionary measure).
3) Run "Printer Setup Utility" from "Applications -> Utilities"
4) Highlight the printer and remove it
5) Quit "Printer Setup Utility". Restart Mac.
6) Connect USB and power up the printer. Wait a little.
7)_Open "Printer Setup Utility" again, highlight the printer you wish to print from
8) Select this printer as "default" by clicking on the corresponding icon on top of this window.
9) Try again to print

If this fails ....

1. Delete the printer drivers - Library/Printers, and install the drivers available on the Web site of the printer's manufacturer.

2. Delete the printer from Printer Setup Utility. Turn Off Printer and disconnect. Restart Computer. Reconnect Printer and turn on. Wait a little. Open "Printer Setup Utility" again. Click the Add Printer button. If the specific type of printer you're using is listed, choose it. For example, if you're using an Epson USB printer, you may be able to choose Epson USB. Select your printer from the list. Click Add.

You may need to turn on special features of your printer. Select the printer in the Printer List and choose Printers > Show Info. Choose Installable Options from the pop-up menu, select the options you want to use, and click Apply Changes.

I went to the HP site and found an updated driver - deleted the old printer, downloaded and reinstalled the new driver, and PRESTO, she works without pausing. Thanks for your help!
