I've heard that PBs can operate with the lid closed if they are connected to an external monitor and keyboard. Since the new displays come with those USB ports on the back, does this mean that I could come home, plop my PB on the desk, connect the DVI, USB, and Firewire cables, and then connect my mouse and keyboard to the monitor and then shut the PB's lid and it would still operate? ( lots of and's in that sentence )
jesse ;-)

Oh, and when are those things going to be available?

Yup. Close the lid and let it sleep. Connect everything. Then wake it up with the mouse or keyboard.
