My friend's iBook has a really noisy hard drive. I hardly hear my Rev. A iMac's fan while it's in the same room (and my iMac is way too noisy btw). It has the Toshiba disk, some have the IBM disk.

Any ideas?

No ideas, really. Just a confirmation that hard drive gets noisy as well, usually trying to find something in cache.

No. I mean always! It's always noisy. The "writing" itself isn't what I'm talking about.
