First: I miss the old MACNN site. I miss some of my old threads that seemed to have gone away.
But considering www.macnn.com is gone, how do people still find this forum site? Are we just a bunch of old luddites that can't move on? Do we get new members?

I do too, MG. Sadly, we had no say-so over closing that side of the operations.

We don't get new users, we only lose current ones for various reasons - other social media sites, death, needing a Conservative safe space, etc.

"... in 6 months if WMD are found, I hope all clear-thinking people who opposed the war will say "You're right, we were wrong -- good job". Similarly, if after 6 months no WMD are found, people who supported the war should say the same thing -- and move to impeach Mr. Bush." - moki, 04/16/03

Well anyway: Good to see everyone again.
After my initial post I made the mistake of changing my email address, which blocked me for some time until an alert admin reached out to me to fix it. (THANKS!)
I miss this site. :-)

We had to turn that plugin off. It has unfixed security bugs, and the source company died. So they'll never be fixed.
Thread links aren't hard to fix manually:
http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iphone-and-apple-tv/ 330354/zune-video-sites-with-good-collection/
Keep the parts in red, insert the part in blue.
--> https://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=330354 ( actual link)
The example thread has two spammers performing -- using the same handle. Someone glitched up their scripting.

Well, long ago I fixed the Lounge link and the PWL link.
I shall let readers (heh) draw their own conclusions as to what this implies.

I miss forums.
Facebook is unmanageable as an actual resource, and finding/seeing actual content is completely at the whim of whatever algorithmic overlords happen to rule the day. Plus, it and Twitter are constant Pol/War-Lounge-heyday shitshow.

Bookmark for me too. Haven't been here in years, and am amazed that I can still log in and post.

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

It's weird how shit just gets worse. Craiglist was fine but then it got overrun with dealership spammers, now it's all FB marketplace. I searched for 2 weeks to find a dash for my buddies civic, all over a huge portion of this country, no luck. A few weeks later one shows up on his feed, in a local town 20 minutes away. It had been posted for 3 weeks. WTF.

Facebook mission accomplished. How many ads, sponsored posts, and boosted posts did you see in the 2 weeks of searching? If they had just showed you exactly what you were searching for right away, it would not have optimized their ad revenue. Engagement, not efficiency.

It's utterly maddening. I'd go back to CL but that is ruined with spam, as well. eBay is okay but the fees are high, and shipping is expensive. Kind of only worth if it if it's something light/small/easy to ship.
