While browsing these boards people always inappropiately call someone looking for help 'a troll', 'a whiner' etc...

Could the mods temp ban people who do those kind of things? An example is in this thread.

I find this really unpleasant and I believe it may even turn off new people looking for help again on these boards.
In vino veritas.

There are people esp in the OS X forum that try to be sublte in their troll, by asking for help. For example.

"How come I can't get this POS OS to work on my computer!?!?! Apple sucks!!!!"

KellyHogan or whatever his name was is a good example of people hiding behind the "helpless newbie" persona to stir flames.

I think "troll" is really being misused lately in the OS X Forums. It seems that anyone making gripes against Jag is quickly dismissed as a "troll," even if they have legit concerns.

Some people over there need to chill...

How about a 24 hour ban for people who post things in the wrong forum?
especially those who should know better.
This should have been in Suggestions/comments.

ok, so I'm not serious about the banning, but you see what I mean.

Not too difficult to get banned here. Just go against popular opinion and you'll be banned in no time

So many things have changed in the past months on these forums. Lot of times I feel like people are just looking for the right word in a post to jump on someone. This really sucks.

The Forums used to be a really nice and helpful atmosphere, but it has changed a lot.

I share Subzero's view. People need to calm down a bit and listen to others a little before jumping on their back and start pealing them. Some people are younger on these forums and do not alwasy know how to post things, some are newcomers and do not know the "rules" yet.

People do need to chill...

People do that and it gets little attention, I posted a thread in there about the 7 or 8 threads that had nothing to do with os x and it was not even noticed

Posting in the wrong forums has become a huge problem, perhaps second only to those that open new threads on a topic that already has threads going. Just take a look throuigh the general x forum and you'll see countless threads about "10.2 - upgrade vs clean install" and of course about every week there is the "here's a partition scheme i am thinking of using, what do you think...."

Sometimes i think the forums are a bit under-moderated, but on the other hand if you ever look at the apple insider forums, every other thread is locked it seems - perhaps a bit over-moderated. I certainly to not want to start a "bitch at the mods" thread, as they are doing what is pretty much a thankless job that will never keep everyone happy (which is maybe a sign that they've found that happy medium....).

Yeah, DaveGee was able to make a complete ass of himself all by himself - looks like he doesn't need undotwa's help.

Now we've got a search thing that doesn't take an ice-age to use, I'll stop doing that. I swear!

{edit: this thread appears to be locked and unlocked at the same time! should I post this in Suggestions/comments? }

OK, maybe 'banning' people is a little bit harsh. But the forum, generally needs to calm things down. People really need to learn to respect other members, no matter how much of an idiot they are (unless they are really trying to stir up trouble )
In vino veritas.
