Can a server host both mac and pc gamers playing quake 3 is there some type of patch or server type that would allow this?

Vanilla Quake and all other QVM mods will work fine, but sometimes there are exceptions: I haven't been able to host Rocket Arena games for example. But unless you want to play some exotic mod, you will be set.
