If anyone is interested, I made a new menubar icon for display properties based on the new aluminum displays. I also made one to use in system prefs. Obviously, if black or white isn't right for your theme, just change the color in your favorite graphics app. And, also obviously, you will have to save them as tiff's. Hope you like em'.

p.s. In case you can't see it, there is a white one above the black one.

Looks great but when I put it in the menu bar it looks as though it is not wide screen and more like a 17" LCD? Is it due to some size restrictions for icns on the menubar? Anyone else have this issue?

BTW: The white one looks fine when selected and I notice the color one appears larger in this post. Is that the issue I'm having? What size does it need to be?

optimus, your welcome.

jtaylr77, the colored one is for use in your system prefs, not the menubar. The small ones are the correct size for the menubar. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

You will first need to save the .png as a .tiff. Then go to /system/library/preference panes/ then right click on Displays.prefPane and select 'show package contents'. Go to /contents/resources and delete displays.tiff (you will need administrative authorization), and then drag the new one into the same place (authorize again) and there you go. You will probably need to log out and in or restart for the change to take effect. Hope that helps.
