Any folks here who visited Las Vegas?
I'm flying out tomorrow and I'm not sure how much time to leave for the airport. I arrived sunday morning and saw the biggest security line. It stretched to most of the airport terminal, in fact there was a guy hold a signing stating where the end of the line was.
That being the case, I'm a little spooked at how long it will take to get through that monstrosity. Anyone have any insights or experience?
btw, my flight is at 4:00pm, so I'm hoping I'll only need 2 hours to get checked in and through that line

I have flown out from vegas five or six times. I flew out of there last Sunday and I got there 2 hours early (flight left at 4:40pm, got there are 2:30pm)... it was plenty of time to get out on time. 2 hours is fine if you do curb-side check in, but you might want 2.5 if you check in inside.
One time the security line took me over an hour (and we had two toddlers with us). That sucked. It moves really fast usually though. 15-20 minutes and you'll be through it.
Longest security lines anywhere though for sure. Luckily they have like 12 security pass-through spots at the end though.

I never had long waits at the Vegas airport, but I only visited in July, not during the height of the tourist season.

I never had long waits either, but 1 hour minimum for sure. If you have a lot of bags, go for the 2 hours.

Thanks for the info, I'm not checking any bags, so I'm hoping to breeze in and out of the check-in area (fingers-crossed)

You never know in Vegas. I've walked through in 5 minutes, waited over an hour, and everything in between. If you can get there 2 hours early, you'll be fine.

Cool thanks for the link, if I give myself 2 hours the wait times at 2:00pm don't look too bad

I was there a few months ago and don't remember the airport taking too long at all. Nothing special compared to any other airport I've been to in the US.

One of my coworkers was supposed to head out that way to visit a customer but was advised against it because of a construction convention going on.

That sounds like hours of constructive criticism boredom.

I would imagine Vegas has a lot of conventions. I'll even be there for one in a few weeks.

Conventions are running here all of the time, I'm at one as its wrapping up today, I noticed three other conventions as well. One conference had a couple of restaurants closed for a private function at NYNY last night and some other conferences had the house of blues closed at mandalay bay
I checked in for my flight and printed the ticket from the casino that I'm staying at (excalibur) and so I should in theory breeze right into the security line.
I've been here since sunday and I cannot wait to get home. While it was fun, I've had enough

Yeah, I go to LV once a year in July for a convention.
After 4 or 5 days, I get sick of Vegas, and I'm happy to leave.

Depends which airline you fly. US Airways terminal is fine, but the Southwest terminal is a security mess.

I'm at the airport now(2 1/2 hours before my flight), because the casino had an advisory that we should arrive at the airport 2.5+ hours early. Because I had checked in and printed my tickets, I had no wait time and the security line wasn't bad. While long, it moved along fairly efficiently.
Also I have free wifi here, this sure beats paying for the wifi at logon
