Bud Light? Really? AB wasn't even an American company to begin with, let alone that they sold to InBev recently.
If the President of the US decides to drink Bud LIght, how does that makes the rest of us look like?

I heard he doesn't have a birth certificate.
Also, I found it funny that people actually argue over with shitty beer tastes better. My friend's brother complains about how terrible Keystone Light tastes with a can of Natural Light in his hand.

Rumor,
For the record A-B was most definitely an American company before the InBev takeover. St. Louis remains the headquarters for the North American operation. Not sure why you would say otherwise.

The ownership is Belgian but it's made here in america by americans. And it was an American company before that and always was.
That said, it's terrible. I'm a native St. Louisan and I freaking hate just about every Anheuser-Busch product.
I too could not believe he picked Bud Light. The man could have any beer he wanted. Any beer in the entire world. Anything. Anything at all... and he picks... Bud... Bud ****ing Light? Really?

There's nothing unmanly about bowls. I have no defense for the Bud Light, though. Geez, you're the leader of the free world and you can't even get some decent beer? Is the financial crisis that bad?

Uhm, yes but that's not the reason. It's the moral crisis.

Budweiser began as an Austrian brand that was brought to the US.

Even if I were to grant you that point ... which I'm not BTW .... surely you recognize there's a difference between a company and brand? Your original statement claimed that A-B ... that is Anheuser-Busch the company wasn't American. And that my friend is false any way you slice it.

No. It's always been American. Owned by German immigrants, but an American company from the start.
Budweiser was just a name.
from wiki
Budweiser is a German adjective describing something or someone from the city of Budweis, a city in Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic. Since 1919 the city has used its Czech name, České Budějovice, as its official name. Two breweries were founded in the city that made beer which they called "Budweiser," both being beers from the city of Budweis. In 1876, a US brewer named Anheuser-Busch began making a beer which it also called "Budweiser." This led in 1907 to the "Budweiser trademark dispute" between beer companies claiming trademarks rights[2] to the name "Budweiser."

He must be thinking of the Czech Republic's Budvar. Which is the 'original' Budweiser.

Bud Light is the least offensive "light" beer made in America. There are others that are, to say the least, repulsive. If the pres had chosen a "real beer" like some of the brands you and I would have chosen, he'd have been branded a "beer elitist," and there would have been no end to the crapstorm from that. As it is, he's at worst guilty of offering guests a "safe" beer brand that isn't nearly as good as most of us would have offered to guests-but then, we wouldn't have press from around the world watching us drink beer, either.
I went to a beer tasting event a while back and BL was there, along with some notables like Young's Porter, and two different Trappist ales. We used the BL to "cleanse the palate." Seriously though, BL doesn't "suck," but Lord it ain't what I'd choose.

If I had to drink light beer, it would be Busch Light.
Sure, it's just as terrible, but it actually has a taste, BL tastes like nothing...blech.

I can stand Coors Light from a bottle. Not from a can or a keg cup, though.

I find Miller Lite to be by far the least offensive of the American light beers.
That said my cheap beer is Yuengling lager, but I prefer bitters, stouts, and steam beers.

I much prefer a bottle of spring water to beer. But that's me. Sophisticated and stuff.
