iMac Rev. A (all necessary updates)
96 Meg Ram
Mac OS 8.6
Internet Explorer 4.5
Outlook Express 5
Epson Printer 740
Imation SuperDisk

My CD player will play all my CD roms but will not play any Audio CDs. I can hear the player spinning, but no sound issues forth. There is nothing wrong with with the Sound system. I can hear everything except an audio CD.

In your Sound control panel, is the input source set for CD? You can also check this using your control strip (icon looks like a little cactus that's supposed to be a microphone, sitting over a faded CD). Otherwise, try running with the standard Apple extensions and see if that works.

Through the help of "Spartacus" on the NoWonder forum I had the solution to the problem: The volume lever on the Apple Audio CD player was set all the way down to the bottom of the slot. I brought it up and everything is now fine.

<slap to my forehead>

Why didn't I think of that? :-P

I think our computers have got us brainwashed to miss all the simplest solutions.
