I posted this in gaming but wanted to ask here and get more exposure and opinions...

So I really want to hook my MBP up to my 32" LCD and run WOW In closed lid mode, but am concerned as my MBP already kicks on the fan immediately as soon as I start playing WOW...is this a bad idea? Do any of you guys run a external LCD and play in closed lid mode?

Any other thoughts? Windowed mode I think is what it's called...should I do that instead?

It's fine. It might run hot, but the machine will cope.

Just use the F1 button to turn the laptop display off when you're playing WOW.
