10.2 Broadband connection failure from cold start

Hello all -
A strange one this. I'm running 10.2.6 on a dual processor 450 g4.
When I start the machine from cold (it's been fully shutdown and I turn the machine on) I can't connect to BT Broadband using an Alcatel speedtouch modem.
If I restart it works perfectly (and everytime I restart after that).
But - following a shut down / boot, the same problem occurs.
Anyone experienced this? I've run all the necessary software updates.
Thanks in advance!

The problem here is that your ADSL modem sucks. Get an ethernet ADSL modem/router.
BTW, are you running the latest drivers (Release 2.0.1)?

Heh. I know, I know. At the moment, I'm just too tight to spend the hundred quid I need for a decent modem / router... Damn alcatel...
I haven't tried the new drivers I don't think. I'll check and see.
Thanks for the help Angus.
