There's a thread going on right now about memorable games, but screw memorable, let's talk best ever. What do you think is the best video game you have ever played? For me, it's kinda hard, because it's kind of a pop-up between Zelda (the NES original, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or Halo. They all had damn good replay value, but I would have to say Halo because that game kicks ass. What about everyone else?
By the way, I will start a thread about how good a day it is when I get a copy of Halo 2.

Super Smash Bros and Zelda are both awesome games.
However, my friend and I have gotten a rediculous amount of replay value and fun out of Halo.
We started playing it at Futureshop the day it came out, and have been playing it ever since. We still log at least a half-dozen hours a week playing co-op.
I've never played the game in any sort of head to head match, but even without that it whups ASS!!!
Halo fur shore!

Goldeneye used to be my favourite game, but it did eventually get a bit tedius. What it lacked was a decent AI.
The other big thing missing from Goldeneye was the ability to play against bots in multiplayer (one of the few areas in which Perfect Dark improved the experience).
Of course this is also a feature missing from Halo. Why they didn't include it, I do not know. If Halo had multiplayer with bots, I wouldn't even be typing this right now, I'd be kicking some bot ass!

I already said what I think is the best game ever, but I would have to say that Metal Gear Solid 1 is better than 2. 1 just had so much more bad ass about it, I don't know, I didn't like Raiden or the plot from MGS 2. MGS 1 with Solid Snake was seriously one of the most bad ass games I've ever played, makes me wanna join the army... almost.

Seriously, I don't know. Tough call. I'll stick with Super Metroid, or maybe A Link to the Past.... Damn it.

I think Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS is probably the best video game ever made.

I've seen multiple Final Fantasy games mentioned, but as of yet no FFVI. FFVI would have to be my number one pick.
Close runners up would have to be Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger. I have played through all three of these games so many times...
And to whoever put FFIX in their list, I found that to be one of the worse games of the series. I am a final fantasy nut, and believe me I was excited to see the old character style returning. However, I found it to be a GRAVE dissapointment.

Toss up I stopped gaming a long time ago.
But probably
Chrono Trigger
Smash Bros (either or both are awsome but I havn't logged on enough time with Melee since I don't have a GC but I can woop anyone I know in the N64 version.)
FF3/6 was awsome for it's time.

Probably Tetris.
My personal favorite though, is Gyruss. Asteroids, Caterpillar, Pac-Man, and Space Invaders are also very good. Plus, since this is a Mac board, let us not forget Breakout!

For me it has to be Mrs. PasMan.
No other game will have such a lasting appeal to people. When I get the chance I'm going to buy one of the machines. I'm just moving too much in the next four or five years to want to lug one around.

I just don't get Super Smash Bros. Melee. Sure, it's an ok fighting game. But button-mashers just get boring. Fast.

Best game ever is really hard to choose, but I'll give a few of my favorites...
Zelda for the SNES (and now Gameboy Advance) was great. I also really liked Super Mario World. They both had the perfect balance of good graphics, music and playability, plus they lasted a long long time.
Goldeneye is the best shooter I've ever played, mostly because of the strategy that you needed to use, and the way you could interact with the environment. My favorite part is crawling through the ductwork to shoot the guy sitting on the toilet in the head. Great stuff! (Perfect Dark is also very good, but lacked something in comparison to Golden Eye, even though it was superior technically).
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie were just superbly crafted games (as are most of RARE's games).
Actually, the Nintendo 64 is probably my favorite system overall (keeping in mind I don't have a Game Cube or an X-Box, but I did have a playstation for a while).
Final Fantasy X was quite good, if too linear.
But maybe my favorite games were things from the old Apple II. Ultima 3, and above all the Eamon text adventures rocked!
