The latest invitation-only event will be held in New York City on October 19, 2005 on the eve of PhotoPlus Expo. Apple doesn’t say exactly what the press conference will be about, but the invitation sent to MacCentral asks to join them as “we unveil Apple’s latest pro innovations.”

Apple's going to announce they're buying Adobe.

Shipping times are now 3-5 days for the 15 & 17" PowerBooks, and for all models of the Power Macs.

Still 24 hours on the 12" PowerBook though.

Well, it's right before PhotoPlus Expo, so I figure that it will be pro Macs and maybe some photo-related software.

I'm starting to wonder if a G5 PowerBook will make an appearance. I'm guessing no, but I'm not 100% sure. G4 7448 makes a lot more sense though.

Doubtful.

Logic only just got up to version 7 a few months ago, with the 7.1.1 update a few days ago.

God knows it could use a *real* update, though, that's true - there's still some pretty shitty bugs in there.

Upgraded monitors... perhaps a new iApp or something? They could also offer an upgraded PB.

iApps are not "pro innovations" (as per invitation). Those are everything with "Pro" or "Power" in their name.

Logic Pro update is out, I doubt Final Cut Pro updates would warrant a large press event...you do the math.

Maybe some new iWork stuff? I would really like to see a new addition to the iWork suite, though it doesn't seem all that likely at this event.

Built in iSight is stupid IMO. You can't even move the fsckin' thing for fsck's sake.

yes, that is a down side, but for some people who want an all in one design can live with that.
its not for everybody just like how an ipod video player isnt for everybody..
some people like one thing some people like other

Yeah, I just gave up and bought an iBook, when it got the Core Image compatible Radeon 9550.

If Apple had released a 13" widescreen G5 PowerBook 3 months ago, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I would have also considered even a 12" 4:3 G4 7448 PowerBook.

As it stands now, I will skip this revision, whatever it may be (which I think is likely to be a G4 7448), unless they somehow to figure to make this PowerBook able to decode/encode/transcode H.264 much, much faster.

Actually, that H.264 support would be much faster if they spec'd a Radeon X1300, but somehow I don't think that will happen.
