Why do the computers in my LAN keep replicating?

When I look at my home network, I now see computers with numbers in parenthesis. One of my computers now appears 13 freakin' times! I can't see any way to reset or clear these.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Apple switched to a new DNS client to make Continuity possible. They haven't quite ironed out the bugs yet … let's hope 10.11 gets a little more love from the QA team.

You can just go in and rename the computers. I didn't know this was a "bug," but my iMac's name wound up "Name (2)" so I just changed it back to "Name."

Is this anything related to my Apple TV now being named "Apple TV (8)" with no way to change it?
Then again, I've had this problem since before Yosemite.
