Trying to stream music from the mac to the pc but even though the library is 'seen ' by both computers the playlist is grayed out and I get the error "this version is not compatible" WTF?

I dont want to upgrade the mac to version 4.2 because I heard that higher versions (4.x) dont have the ability to actually share music. Could this be the incapability?

The higher versions stop you sharing music outside the subnet. i.e via the net, not on the local network though.

If you want to share music with the PC you will have to upgrade.
