Ugh.

You should click on original size to get the full effect of "new" Spock's truly horrid makeup.

I always forget how handsome of a devil Shat was back in the day, and judging by the pose, who would have known they had myspace?

I knew that Kirk would come out looking a little more metro, but I didn't think it would go this far.

My eyes must be broken. I think he'd be happier on the old Enterprise.

Since they're both pretty gay, I imagine him picking the less stupid one.

What's with the freaky eyebrows on the the new Kirk?

A better question is why is this being produced?
Someone run out of screenplays for original story ideas?

I'm also floored that we no longer have the technology to get cameras as high as we could in the late 60s.

Star Trek needed a reboot. It's still a great story idea, but the old team of producers were killing the franchise.

Maybe the franchise died a natural death, or sometimes you just unplug and walk away.

edit: no doubt the story idea was great. But that time has past. give the new kid with the new story a f'in break.

I just wonder what will happen to Trek if this movie takes off. More movies? A series with this cast? Quinto's tied up with Heroes at the moment.

I'd really like an ass-kicking BSG-type Trek to come back.

Why would you do that when you know there's a ton of money to be made? I don't see anything wrong with a story reboot as long as it's done properly. The way I see it, if Kevin Smith liked it, chances are it's a damn good film.

It's a matter of opinion. I'd rather not revive a dead horse after its been beaten to death a few times. I'd rather create a new animal.

I don't know if its producers or just that the franchise had run its course but star trek enterprise was awful. I'm hoping with new producers things will be a little more fresh this time around.

I'd be more open to the reboot if they had the wherewithal to wait, oooooohhhh, at least a decade?

That would be ok. Maybe the corpses need to cool a bit. I'd give it 20 more years for good measure.

That where you're wrong – we can now afford to put lights on both sides of people. Unfortunately, we lack the judgment to realize just cos we can doesn't mean we have to.

If they were going to reboot Star Trek, they should have waited 3 or 4 years, then used my idea: One 4-part miniseries a month featuring a new captain, new crew, and new ship. Since it's not one giant story arc for a whole a season, they could come up with any sort of idea or situation. I'd like to see the First Contact battle from a different ships' perspective, or a Wolf 359 episode. Maybe have recurring spots for popular captains & crews.

The great thing is that it can take place at any point in Star Trek history.

That's a budget heavy idea, unfortunately.

I had an idea like that back when DS9 was on.

Modular set. Most of the Star Trek ships look the same on the inside. They could do it just by moving the set pieces around and creating new bridges and decks. They moved to CG in the latter half of Voyager for most of their external shots.

I already mentioned it elsewhere, but the bridge of the Enterprise looks like a toothbrush commercial.

I guess it's the colour palette and the illuminated glass or whatever.
