Sleep light turns all the way off

My powerbook's sleep light turns all the way off when it...sleeps. Usually the light pulsates, from bright to dim, but now, it goes from bright to off. It isn't really a problem for me but I'm just wondering why it does this.

mine does too - black Macbook Core 2 Duo. Normal.

well maybe for the new intel macs they're normal. But my Powerbooks (Pismo, Ti, and Al) don't do it. Maybe an update did it?

no, i dont think it should. I have a 15" 1.67 i bought in august of 2005. i have the most recent updates. I dont know why it could be doing this, but im just letting you know that it should not.

I haven't figured it out yet. Sometimes it pulses or just stays dim during sleep. When it's plugged in, sometimes the light is on, sometimes not.
Must be a random generator thingy to entertain us.

My iMacs sleep light pulses all the way off, then on, then all the way off etc.
My MacBook CD gets brighter/dimmer/brighter/dimmer, without ever dimming all the way off. My iBook G4 was the same as the MacBook

My screen saver NEVER would turn on. Sleep started within a minute of non-activity, then went black after five. I finally figured out how to adjust this.

When my MBP pulsates it dims down, but never turns the LED fully off. My MB's LED actually goes off when it pulsates.

No. The light should never be on while the unit is on and awake, and it should never stop throbbing when it's asleep.
What you might be noticing, though, is that the brightness of the throbbing light depends on whether the lid is open or closed. (I forget which state makes it throb brighter.)

No. The light should never be on while the unit is on and awake, and it should never stop throbbing when it's asleep.
Not true on a MB or MBP.
If it is on and awake but
• has a sleeping display
• is running in closed-lid mode
it will show a light to let you know it's in fact on.
If it is sleeping and the power & battery have been removed (SafeSleep activated), the sleep light will stop throbbing.

No. It does what I said it does. I can't figure it out. 
EDIT: the lid is always open; but when closed it does pulse brighter.
