Okay, I just got a replacement V3 razr from Cingular's insurance program. This thing will not connect via iSync at all. Is there something I'm forgetting here?

Just held a RAZR for the first time today; one of my managers just got on with Cingular. It's really nice—it's got a great feel to it; it feels very comfy in your hand. I'm all over this new mid-December RAZR if it's not too much.

Wasn't the RAZR something like $500 when it first came out? It soon dropped like a rock, but given that this new phone is coming out around the holidays, I wouldn't be surprised if it has a $400 tag for the first couple of months.

I could swing $400 or so. $450+ is pushing it, though. It's not essential; the better camera and video feature are just a plus I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for. If it's too much, I can live with a current RAZR, which will certainly be even cheaper by then.

My wife just picked up the Rokr, and I got the Razr. Oddly enough, she got the Rokr because it was the only Cingular candy bar phone she liked. The iTunes integration is a bonus. It's not all bad. The Razr is nice, but keeps dropping my bluetooth connection.

I started looking for a new phone. There was a Cingular store in the mall so I checked out the RAZR V3. What a piece of sh*t. Broken Bluetooth, crappy OS, and I checked out Salling support at the Apple Store to see if it worked, and the RAZR isn't even listed.
Buh-bye.

This phone isn't that bad. Hasn't dropped the bluetooth connection since the first week I've owned it. I'm happy with this phone. It does what it is supposed to do.

I couldn't transfer a file from one phone to another. Reason? IT'S BROKEN.
And...
http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=277546
Motorola's Bluetooth won't work with Salling Clicker or any remote software, because the BT firmware on the phones aren't up to it.
IT'S BROKEN.

I transfer files to and from mine all the time. File transfer works with absolutely no problems. Perhaps it is your brain that's broken.
That's nothing to do with the Bluetooth capabilities. That's the JSR-82 Java APIs, which allow Java apps to use Bluetooth. While it's true that the RAZR doesn't support these APIs (although AFAIK the new RAZR, the V3i, does), that only affects third-party apps, and would be more accurately described as an incomplete Java API set rather than "broken Bluetooth." If it's that important to you, wait for the V3i.

I see you've resorted to name calling. Proud of you®
My Nokia -> Another Nokia : worked.
My Nokia -> Samsung : worked.
My Nokia -> Treo : worked.
My Nokia -> RAZR : didn't work
So then I tried:
Other Nokia -> RAZR : didn't work
Samsung -> Treo : worked
Other Nokia -> Samsung: worked.
Treo -> RAZR : didn't work
Do you transfer files to it FROM YOUR COMPUTER? That's a different story.
You admit the RAZR is broken, but still defend it. You're as bad as the gaming plaform fanboys.

I hate my V600. I will reverse over it with the ride on lawn mower the day that my contract ends.
Poor quality, faulty OS (it was, I sent it back and they half fixed it), terrible batterly life, shocking reception, heavy, and just loathesome in general.
That said, I wouldn't buy a RAZR.

Well, of course I transfer files from my computer, because I don't have a whole batch of cell phones. So, I can't verify your results, although I'm not sure why it should matter whether the device on the other end is a phone or a computer. Of course, the last time you decided to go on this little crusade, you were claiming the RAZR couldn't send or receive files from a computer either, and you were claiming you tried one with your laptop and it wouldn't let you send/receive files. It was pretty much exactly like your current post, so forgive me if I don't just take your word for it.
You admit the RAZR is broken, but still defend it. You're as bad as the gaming plaform fanboys.
Um, no. The RAZR's Bluetooth works just fine. The Java API doesn't have a feature you want. Okay. At least the RAZR doesn't have BROKEN VOICE CALLING. I'm going to take a page out of your book, and describe the lack of a feature I want (quad-band) as making the whole phone BROKEN. So your Nokia probably doesn't have quad-band, therefore it is a BROKEN PHONE.

Uh, no, because it doesn't say it has quad-band. The RAZR DOES say it has BT. Sorry, you lose.

And it does. Your issue is with the Java API, which makes it not support certain third-party software.
Also: Your Nokia phone claims it has voice calling. But in places outside the US... it won't work! Broken voice calling.

Then why doesn't Salling work? Why can't I transfer a file from a Treo to a RAZR?
EDIT: Apparently the V3i works. We'll see....

Verizon is carrying the V3i aparently first. But an unlocked one will work with Cingular and T-Mobile, although I'm quite sure they're gonna get the phone as well, just a bit later.

I kinda got my hopes up today. Went to another C store, and asked if they had the V3i. One guy said no, but the girl behind the counter said "oh, we just got a new one in". Sorry, it's the same V3 with video recording instead. Bastards.

No, Verizon is carrying the V3c. The V3i is GSM only AFAIK, so Verizon won't be able to use it.

yes.
getting the computer to a point where it's ready for you to plug-in your phone(and have it be recognized) is a little tedious, but once that's all done it's a plug-in/edit/unplug affair.
What You'll Need:
A Motorola Vxxx Phone (V300, V400, V500, V600, V3 etc)
A USB Cable for your Motorola Vxxx Phone (no, you can't do it through bluetooth)
P2Kman, a program to upload and download seems and files to and from your Vxxx
XVI32, a simple but powerful hex editor
A list of potential hacks you can perform

There's also an open-source app for seem editing called moto4lin that works on Linux and Mac OS X, although I have never done any seem editing and do not know how to use it, so I wouldn't be able to provide any advice.

I love my RAZR. And how can you call it "plasticy" when its outsides are anodized aluminum and its keypad is laser-cut stainless steel? Mine is great-it feels substantial without feeling heavy or bulky. I got black and my wife got silver-though I've seen mention of a blue one.
Motorola phone quality...they INVENTED THE TECHNOLOGY that the cell phone system is based on. Patented it and everything. Every Motorola phone I've had has had superior sound quality to every non-Motorola phone, even my Erikson mini-flip ten years ago.
The OS is not fabulous, but what do you want from your phone? I have other things to do stuff like type, play games and so on. The PIM function is usable (and I can sync it with BOTH my Mac and my PC) but not much more than that. I can deal with that, though, since the phone as a phone is so much better than any of my previous phones, both in terms of sound qualilty and in terms of performance.

My wife and I both got the Black RAZR with Cingular service at Radio Shack. They were doing a special promotion. The phones were $29.99 each after a mail in rebate, and we got free Motorola Bluetooth HS820 headsets after mail in rebate.
We migrated from Sprint, and did consider the Blade. I am personally sick of having a Samsung phone. I had two with Sprint, and was ready to switch. Sprint Samsungs are not customizable at all. At least the Motorola is somewhat. You can change all kinds of stuff on this phone.
I don't care if the phone is old, that thing is freakin hot. I love it. The Bluetooth is awesome, ringtones and wallpapers along with games from my G5. The headset works pretty good, although I have some volume issues with mine.

Maybe that was the CDMA Verizon version of the Razr? I don't remember details, but I think I remember reading that it would be different than the GSM version, with charge contacts on the back, and slightly thicker. It wouldn't surprise me if they also cheapened the cosmetics.
