Good Evening:
I am a US resident with a Verizon Wireless iPhone X. I am traveling to Australia in October for two weeks and would like to get a pre-paid Telstra data-only sim card to insert into my iPhone X. I verified that the two systems are compatible. Note that since the plan is pre-paid, and data only, I won't even have the ability to make / receive voice or SMS / MMS on the device.
When I insert the Telstra sim card, I understand that my phone number will change and any voice and SMS / MMS messages would come via the Telstra number, if they were enables, which they probably won't be.
As for my iMessage and Facetime, will I still be able to send / receive seamlessly, or will I have to change something? Note that I AM able to send / receive from my Apple ID as well as my phone number.
Since I will be on holiday, I don't intend on spending much of the day sending messages back home, but will probably be doing most of that from the hotel in the morning / evening from my iPad or my MacBook Pro. I would still like the option to use my iPhone to send / receive iMessage / Facetime in case I really need to, say if the wife and I want to separate for an hour or so, or if our parents have a question about the kiddos.
Has anyone who has traveled had any experience with this?
