Hello,

I have a 1.25 Ghz 15" Al Powerbook that I bought new when it was released. My home network consists of the damn AirPort Extreme base station which I hate. Anyway, my wife has a Lombard 500, that works flawlessly.

The problem I have is that when the PB awakes from sleep, it usually connects to a neighbors unsecured "Linksys." When it does this it tries to assign 192.1.x.x address, and then sometimes gives me a duplicate IP error.

My network is using 64 bit WEP and I have my SSID broadcasting, and I am using the 10.x.x NAT. This has been happening since 2 upgrades ago, not just 10.4.7.

Just top let you know I have all of the settings correct in Network, etc (I'm an IT guy), so I don't know what to do n ext. I am still under AppleCare and will be taking it in soon for an issue with cd/dvd, but I just wanted to see if anyone out there has a possible solution for this problem.
I had a TI book before this and of course it had shitty range by default. I live in a small apartment and when I move 50 feet from the AIrPort Extreme base, it looses the signal.

Any help would be appreciated !

Thanks

Since you know what you're doing, what setting are you using for "By default, join:" in Network preferences?

Welcome to the MacNN Forums! But you asked in the wrong place. Ask in the Networking forum. This has no real connection to the fact that you're using a PowerBook...
