Name your favorite moment our of all the movies you've seen. You can list multiple answers if you can't pinpoint it down to one. A "moment" can be anything from one instant to a sequence as long as 10 minutes or more. Examples: The charge of Rohan in Return of the King, The shooting of Don Corleone in The Godfather, etc etc. What's your favorite moment?

Mine is the Baptism sequence in The Godfather.

When Wallace gets executed in Braveheart... The end of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly... In ROTK when Sam says "...but I can carry you!"...... there are probably more than I cannot think of right now.... When luke says "but I was just going to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters!"

I particularly like the scene in "Goodfellas" when Billy Batts and Tommy get into that little brouhaha. It pretty much sums up the movie with its quick and viscous violence.

Nat Henstridge dropping her bra in Species.

Phoebe Cates dropping her bikini in Fast Times.

The "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" bit of Blade Runner.

The bit in Last Of The Mohicans where Cora Monroe questions Hawkeye's decision to leave the dead unburied (all the way through to him explaining about their tribute). Also, the bit from injun chief conversation to end.

Bit in Armageddon where wife sees bloke heading for shuttle, turns to kid and says "that ain't a salesman, that's your daddy".

"If You Want Blood" bit in Empire Records with Liv Tyler bouncing around.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

While there's a treasure trove of good scenes in that movie, I have an affinity for when Galahad is 'saved' from Castle Anthrax, leading to: "Don't go, no, wait, don't... awwwww. SH¡T!"

I'm not sure if this *technically* qualifies as cinema, but it is HBO, so I think I deserve at least half-credit.

The final 7 minutes of Six Feet Under.

Too many to pick one favorite, but here are some favorites:

- Andy Garcia sliding across the train station floor to catch the pram with his leg and simultaneously drawing a bead on the gangster at the top of the stairs in "The Untouchables."

- Nicolas Cage in "Raising Arizona" where he's fighting with William Forsyth and John Goodman in the living room and he raises his hands over his head to deliver an axe-handle blow only to scrape his knuckles across the textured ceiling.

- The Dude driving his car in "The Big Lebwoski"; he drops the roach he's smoking in his lap, then tries to put it out using the beer he's been drinking, and in the scramble, crashes headlong into a steel dumpster.

- When Forrest Gump meets his son for the first time and asks Jen-nay, "Is he smart?"

- Darth Vader's first appearance on camera, emerging from the fog of laser blasts in "Star Wars."

The William Wallace death scene in Braveheart was truly great.
Also...

Primal Fear - final scene...you know what I'm talking about
The Shawshank Redemption - the poster is pulled back.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - the filibuster
Forrest Gump - as someone already noted, the "Is he smart?" scene
Chariots of Fire - Eric's 400m run at the Olympics
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World - the whole thing
Gladiator - Maximus' death scene

There are others I'm forgetting that I'll think of and post later.

Ditto. It's really the only movie that I thought he did a good job in. Morgan Freeman's always incredible though.

Tombstone

"You're so drunk you're probably seeing double!"
"I got two guns...*click*...one for each of ya."

Tombstone had the better Doc Holliday, but Wyatt Earp was the better (and more accurate) film.

For some reason I will always stop and watch Tombstone when its on. I find Kilmer's performance mesmerizing.

Wyatt Earp: What makes a man like Ringo, Doc? What makes him do the things he does?
Doc Holliday: A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of himself. And he can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.
Wyatt Earp: What does he want?
Doc Holliday: Revenge.
Wyatt Earp: For what?
Doc Holliday: Bein' born.

Love that scene where Doc shows up to duel Ringo instead of Wyatt. The look on Ringo's face is priceless. And Doc is so damn cool with the cigarette while he's dueling.

At the risk of being completely obvious...

Nigel Tufnel: "The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and..."
Marty DiBergi: "Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?"
Nigel Tufnel: "Exactly."
Marty DiBergi: "Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?"
Nigel Tufnel: "Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?"
Marty DiBergi: "I don't know."
Nigel Tufnel: "Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?"
Marty DiBergi: "Put it up to eleven."
Nigel Tufnel: "Eleven. Exactly. One louder."
Marty DiBergi: "Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?"
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] "These go to eleven."
