yeah! looks very very good. I am not that concerned about the storage space etc...I think they will deal with that in the future,,,but the new iSync/10.4 features will make me glad I stuck with it!

I'm sorry, but is there anything new there?
Apart from mail and keychain syncing, I mean?
Widgets aren't up yet, and everything else I can see has been there for about a year...?

Old wine is good wine. Ahh, I see this developing into one of those love/hate things.
Well, if you hadn't noticed from the first post, this is about the new look. Not the features or if you're satisified, iTools, blah blah.
I like the look and am interested to see the .mac-only widgets.

Ummm....Unless I'm missing something here....This is like a repackaging of the exact same content. It's like "Hey come look at .mac in this new box! The new box has features such as Computer to Computer syncing"
Wait...didn't we always have that?!?
"Yes but with Tiger you get your information ANYWHERE!"
Yeah, but isn't that what .mac syncing did in Panther.
"Dude, shut up. It's new ok?"

Well, Tiger does sync your keychain as well - and, according to info we got a year ago, it will allow you to sync application preferences, just as soon as any developers, including Apple, start implementing that function.

It's pretty nice. I can't wait til the member only widgets are up. Now just waiting for Apple to offer 1GB of space to all .Mac members THEN it will really be worth the 100 dollars you spend.

Does anyone know how to turn off the sync warnings (i.e. "Syncing will change 151 items")?. In 10.3, there was a preference in iSync. But in Tiger, iSync passes you off to System Preferences for all things dotMac, but there is no longer a preference setting for this.

Why must every positive thread about .mac be overrun by holier-than-thou it's-a-rip-off it-was-supposed-to-be-free-for-life whiners?
God, just let those who use the service discuss it.
Yes, we get you don't think it is worth it.
Some perceive value, some don't.
Do they teach poor manners at university these days?
Thank you, have a nice day.

What's new about the .Mac homepage is: - .Mac e-mail notification of how many (if any) new e-mails
- Search Addressbook
- Calendar showing current month and date (I assume that will also show what stuff you have coming up)
- Info on what wrbpages and how many hits on your .Mac website
- Learning Center on the main navigation (big plus)
- along with other changes to the navigation to add other useful things

Blech!
I like the fact that they're making the main .mac page have more overview functionality, but why, oh why does 2/3 of the page have to be filled with ads and marketing? I already have .mac, I know what I can do with it.
The stuff that's now squeezed over into the left colum (and below the fold) should be 90% of the page.

Agree.
A 3 box vertical instead of a 3 column view would be much better.
And, yes, the adverts should go away on login. My guess is they not only want Tiger buyers to .mac, but .mac to Tiger.

Like the new page, but WHY WHY WHY can't we get a version of iCal that will allow us to update it online? Address Book does this, other companies (Yahoo, MSN) do it (for free), we really should be able to have this function for $100/year no?

I just bought .Mac about a week ago...
Please tell me that I still get Virex.
Edit:
Q: Where can I download virus definition update (DAT) files for Virex?
Virex from McAfee is not currently compatible with Tiger, but is still available to .Mac members who are running Panther. Virex for Panther can be downloaded at http://www.mac.com. If you already have a version of Virex on your Mac, you can get DAT updates from the .Mac Member Central page.
Crap. Virex, believe it or not, is one of the reasons I got .Mac. A big reason, actually. Don't argue with my reasoning: That's not the point. Anyway, will Virex ever be compatible with Tiger, or is this a permanent thing?

Anyone know if keychain syncing is done with any kind of encryption? Previously Backup didn't use encryption, so backing things up to iDisk were in the clear! If they do this with Keychain, it would be a huge security flaw IMHO!

I think there is an update somewhere. I downloaded it the other day. a version 7.6 I'm sure it'll be up there soon.

Yes, we get you don't think it is worth it.
There was only one post above yours - the one about 1GB storage - that claimed anything of the sort.
(I have to agree with that one - I'm currently running the limit, while using .mac as an online backup until my replacement main machine arrives - I have no way to burn or transfer to external disk from this iMac.)
The rest is just "Nothing new, really - wow, colors."

i'm trying to decide whether to stick with my webhost or not. 6.95 a month for 1 gb and 20gb transfer with westhost. is .mac really worth it, its 8 dollars a month for 250 mb of space. How much transfer space do you get? are the features really worth it for 2 extra dollars a month and -750 mb of space. btw i don't necessarily need a gigabyte. but its hard for me to shell out the extra bucks for so much less.

Hmmm ... I'm a big fan of the bookmarks thing. Just click on them and up pops your Safari Bookmarks, ready to be used from any browser on any machine anywhere. Nice.

WTF?!?
Proves that there's some backdoor somewhere that allows circumventing the pop-up window blocker. Only a matter of time until some web sites figure that out...

umm yeah... popup blocking is not meant to block popups you request. If it did, that would be annoying... very very annoying. Anytime you wanted to use a site that uses legit popups, you'd have to disable and reenable when you leave... what a pain that would be.

Catfish_Man, thanks for the comment.
I suppose if the link is to a web page of the same domain then Safari does not block it. Although I had a few web pages where window blocking did in fact block all user initiated popups. Perhaps that was because those links were to a different domain?

As a 3 year user of .Mac, I got to say that the new presentation pleased me a lot. But only the presentation.
The only reason I continue to pay .Mac is webmail. It is really awesome, the sinchronisation with Mail.app is perfect. I love also the new aliases, I can have illimiter e-mail addresses in one. I like also the address book.
For the rest, I don't use it a lot. iCal sync? Well, one calendar at time, it is not so useful. Yes, I know that there are applications that merge all calendars in one and publish them in dotMac, but I woud like that Apple did it themselves. Also, the tasks have to be uploaded! Bookmarks, it is nice, but limited.
So, what I would like it to be?
1. Homepage : A really personal homepage system : blog, calendars, links, galleries, dinamic menus, podcasting posting, etc., like Mambo CMS (a little version) but with the style and ease of Apple. Integration with Pages.
2. Calendars : A unified interface to all the webcalendars, with tasks view.
3. Bookmarks : A better and clearer interface, like the Address book one. The mini interface is nice also, but I would like to see both options
4. A new feature called "MyStartPage" : A personal page, with a resume of all your features, but without ads (.Mac is so auto-promotional...). In that startpage, it would be nice to have a web view of your favorite rss channels (stored in bookmarks), a view of your most visited sites (in sinc with safari), links to edit your homepages and blogs, live view of your calendars (alarms, to do's for today, events for today). The cool thing in such a thing, is being capable of have "your mac in the Internet", not only your mail, but your rss channels, bookmarks, even your documents posted in your public folders and tunes in podcasting. Like a Mac to have in a PC, or in a foreing Mac.
I will keep dreaming...

Tiger's iCal allows you to group calendars, and to publish the entire group and/or calendars individually.
Tasks are uploaded as well.
