I've had this Macbook for a good 6 months now and yesterday, I noticed that my computer turned on with the Caps Lock on. When I turned OFF the Caps Lock and tried typing, everything came out in capital letters. When I turned on the Caps Lock, I could type in lower case.
However, there is also another problem I have with other random keys as well. For example, when I type Shift+8, I get the left perentheses instead of the asterisk, Shift+9 gives me the right perentheses, etc. Basically, some of the symbols (including quotations, colons) have been switched around for some reason.
Anyone know whats wrong? Any help would be great, thanks!

Switch it back to US keyboard layout.
System preferences --> inernational.

Shut the computer down.
Turn it on and immediately hold down: command+option+p+r and wait for the computer to chime again.
This should reset your PRAM which may clear out any weird keyboard errors.

Sorry guys to bring this back up but my keyboard problem hasn't totally gone away.
I do the alt +command+p+r when I restart and that "resets" it. However, it seems like almost 50% of the time I turn on my Macbook normally, the caps lock button will be on and my keyboard will be messed up again... i.e. I will type a colon when I press the apostrophe button, an asterisk when I hit the right perenthesis button, etc.
I think this may be a software issue... anyway I can fix it with perhaps an upgrade in OS?
Thanks a lot guys!

You said you've had it six months, its still under warranty. Take it to an Apple Store or call the Apple customer service.
