OS 9.0.4
It's impossible for me to open the extensions setup, it freezes my mac.
The only way is to disabled the extensions with shift at the open.
And my bar sometimes dissapear and is quoted as hidden, although I quoted visible before the latest sutdown.
Does anybody knows what to do ?
Thanx

You can manage your extensions and control panels manually by moving them from the "Extensions" and "Control Panels" folders to the "Extensions Disabled" and "Control Panels Disabled" folders, respectively.
Tell us more about these crashes please - and what your computer is, RAM etc...
Bar is quoted as...?
Menu bar you mean?

I know that, but I don't want to move them manually, I just want to resolve this problem.
My Mac is a G4/400 with 300 Mo RAM (september 2000)
Yes, I was meaning menu Bar, and if some words sound you strange, it's because I'm French, and I try to translate the words of my french system !....

Are you sure you're not talking about the control strip and not menubar?
Anyway, I have no idea to solve your problem, sorry
Does the Mac crash if you hold the space bar during startup? (to launch the extension manager before the extensions are loaded...)

Not yet, and the Multimedia&DV forum is not very frequented... anybody has an idea? cipher? here is a link to the thread where his problem with DVD is described http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Forum9/HTML/000737.html
Given the fact that you have several problems, why not re-installing mac OS, trying DVD and Extension manager, installing the progressively the apps that need extensions, try DVD again... to know who's guilty?

I know it's a good way to find the reason, but I really don't want to re-install all my stuff on my 4 partitions.... It will take so much time....
I think I'm not so courageous......

I'm sorry but it seems like everytime I post something in your threads, other members won't post anything... The best way I can help you is maybe to keep my mouth closed
I hope that someone will try to help you...

No.
In fact, it'causes a crash due to an illegal instruction or an error bus...

I say you've got a corrupt Extensions Manager.
Delete the Extensions Manager preferences (note you will lose all saved extension sets).
Try now.
Of your OS CD grab the Extensions Manager prefs and put on your HD.
Now replace the control panel itself if none of that helped.
If not?
You'll need to reinstall the Extensions Manage totally, or you may as well reinstall the OS...

I would have to agree that you need to replace your Extension Manager, and delete all old preferences for it. And I would also suggest replacing the Finder
