Anyone else install iOS 11? I’ve load it on my 6S plus and iPad Air.

I have had some issues with making calls at first. Rebooting seems to have taken care of it.

On the Air, I noticed on Safari, when switching between tabs, the words looks blurry while the page reloads. I have not rebooted the Air yet.

Edit:reboot did not help, and the circles are gone, signal bars are back.

The update process went flawlessly, and I gotta say I really love the new design. The only thing that causes problems is my iPad Pro's charging dock, I get an Accessory Not Supported message. After dismissing it a few times, it hasn't reappeared, but I'll keep an eye out. I haven't made calls with it yet, though.

Smooth sailing so far (knock on wood) on my 7. I see no need to upgrade to an 8/X.

iPod Touch battery indicator is now erroneously displayed with a red tab, rather than white and filled. This goes away after a minute, but is a new bug.

This is a feature, actually. For some reason Notes uses a slightly different font, San Francisco Pro instead of San Francisco
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Why? The "a" and the "o" look too similar. I have to keep double-checking the text just to make sure that I entered or read it right.

By the way, I love the speed and accuracy of Siri now: I don’t do anything fancy, but things like “Call me wife” are immediate and before Siri finishes announcing who to call, the number is being dialed already. Ditto for other things like setting timers. It is accurate even when I am biking and there is wind noise. Did anyone else notice that?

.01 update.

I was hoping this would fix my call issues. I have been getting “all circuits are busy” when I was at work this morning in Chandler and now in Central Phoenix. (Verizon)

My SIM card expired? The Verizon store associate replaced the card and all is well.

Huh? Do SIM cards have an expiry date? Or did someone at Verizon flip a switch in its database to cancel the SIM card?

After a search, deactivation seemed they most likely scenario. Expiration affects prepaids. I upgraded from a 5S to a 6S+ and the SIM card from the 5S was moved to the new phone. I was thinking it was the update to iOS11, so I did not update the 5S.

Well this is really weird. I just updated to iOS 11.0.1, and it restarted and stayed on my home WiFi just fine. Then I shut down my iPhone SE. Then I turned it back on, and it says, that my password is wrong. But it's NOT. It won't connect to my home WiFi and gives an incorrect error message. Then I let my iPhone SE go to sleep for a minute, and tried again, then it worked.

I have a few apps (games) that my iPad and phone say "won't work with iOS 11." Any actual problems seen with this? I'm ready to install on both if I don't lose a couple of these games.

I reckon these are 32 bit iOS apps that haven’t been updated. iOS 11 is 64 bit only and won’t run those.

Apple is infuriating me with Reminders. Since iOS 7, they have STILL not worked out all of the bugs. New to iOS 11, in Reminders: There are stray red line artifacts when swiping to delete a reminder.
Another report sent to Apple.

I'm having some issues with iOS 11 (now 11.0.2).

First, CarPlay seems a bit off. Where before I could use apps like Pandora in my car, now it seems to have trouble connecting. I may have to re-add the phone to the car, but the thing is that it "sorta" recognized the phone and brought up the CarPlay display/apps, but then it said "no device connected." Like if it lost the phone...

Second, my iPad sucks battery power incredibly. Instead of getting down to about 80% with a couple hours of work, now it's down to 60% or less. I know some people had issues with this sort of thing with the beta version, but I'd also gotten the impression they'd worked it out.

Does anyone have a fix or at least advice on either of these issues?

11.0.3 was released last week. Could be a fix for CarPlay. I did notice that when I ran the Verizon app Health check it said my wifi was tuned in when it wasn't

One annoying thing is the new control center. I put my phone on airplane mode when I go into the production area at work. When I go to break and turn it off airplane mode wifi and Bluetooth turn on as well, even if they were turned off before. This was not the case in iOS 10 and before. If Wifi and BT were off prior to APM they stayed off when APM was turned off.

I commonly tether my MBP and iPad to my iPhone as a hotspot, both iDevices running iOS 11. With iOS 11, my iPad will not see my iPhone as a wifi hotspot UNLESS my MBP is first connected to my iPhone first. Without that, my iPhone does not appear in the list of WIFI networks. Never happened on iOS 10 before.

I'm just getting back to this thread. I plan to update to 11.0.3 this weekend and I'll report on the Car Play and (hopefully) the battery issue.

Control Center wifi and bluetooth icons do not turn them off, they disconnect you from what ever you are connected to. You have to go into settings to turn them off.

Both my phone and iPad updated nicely this morning, and I’ve just been using them as normal since. I haven’t checked out Car Play yet, nor have I let either one run down enough to reset the charge meter. I may do that, with the iPad at least, tonight.

Notably fixes the KRACK Wifi bug, but only for iPhone 7 and newer and the 9.7" iPad and newer??? Were the others never exploitable?

Crap. I just updated to 11.0.3 this past weekend.

As for the issues i’d mentioned earlier, Pandora still doesn’t work in my car. I am not 100% sure I had Pandora working in the car before. I typically use Sirius XM or local radio instead of stuff on the phone, so I ran into the issue by accident when I was just playing with the stuff in the dashboard display. I can live with that.

Battery life for both the phone (iPhone 5s - yes I’m that far behind) and my iPad (iPad Air 2 WiFi) is still about the same. For the phone, I can possibly attribute extra battery drain to communicating with my Apple Watch 2, but not the iPad. I wonder if it’s just a different way the OS monitors battery status... Anyway, I haven’t really has “problems” with this, it’s just something that caught my attention.

And since I won’t be in town over the weekend, I’ll probably wait until Monday to update to 11.1. Sigh.

Aaaaand once again another bug with iOS. After a long day at work with my iPhone SE, I tried to use Walmart's app to use Walmart Pay. I couldn't, I received an error message "Not available, try again later" or something to that effect. Anyway, I had a rep come over to show me that it was a bug in iOS. I had to double-press Home, then swipe up on the 30 or so windows, then reopen Walmart app, and then tap on Walmart Pay, and THEN it worked. This is with iOS 11.1, and again reported to Apple.

That sounds more like a glitch in the Walmart app that doesn’t play nice with iOS 11 than a glitch in iOS 11. The “quit the app and restart it” technique is what you do when an app stalls or freezes. Did iOS 11 make it freeze, or did the app not behave correctly? The error message suggests that it was the latter because the app wasn’t able to do something. I’d expect an OS problem to cause something like a crash/quit or other, more “dramatic” problem.

I would NOT trust a random Walmart worker to have the technical insights to attribute the problem you had to iOS 11. And in addition to reporting it to Apple, maybe you should report it to Walmart as well. I had a loyalty app that used to glitch a lot - I contacted the company (that wanted my loyalty) and there was an update shortly afterward.

Let Apple contact Walmart. And I disagree, I did trust the technical insights to the Walmart worker, and she was not a random worker. And the app didn't freeze. It just threw that error code upon using it for the first time since previous restart.

To me, the error code says a lot more than just “I don’t want to work.” Throwing an error means that either the app didn’t properly call something through the OS, or the OS didn’t handle the call properly. Considering the amount of work Apple puts into an iOS iteration compared to the amount of work that goes into a single app, (and the possibility of bottom-line repercussions related to an OS versus an app), my money is still on Walmart’s app writers doing something odd.

But this is essentially off topic, so I’ll stop opining about it.

My bet is that Walmart used some sort of framework to ease cross-platform development, and that this framework does not correctly request memory or some other shared resource. When there are no open apps, it all works because said resource is available.

I also think that if the bug is on Apple's side - ie, Apple is not keeping its "promise" from previous versions - we would have a million reports about it and not just a single Walmart app.
