Hardware Prefpane? what gives?

ok, so i was poking around on my ibook and found a new prefpane. called "hardware"
i did just install the dev tools, but i doubt that came from there.
any ideas what this is? i dont think i installed it....

It's part of the "Computer Hardware Understanding Development" (CHUD) Tools.
Basically, it's a bunch of tools that help analyze the low level behavior and performance of applications. They're a bear to handle, but very useful once you get used to them.
I believe the hardware control panel lets you toggle things like multiprocessing and cache levels. Fun to play with, but not particularly useful for most people.

If you have a dual-processor system, you can use the Hardware pane to disable one of the processors and make your machine a single-processor system. This can be useful for those cases when a bug may be only affecting dual-processor systems, and you want to see if that's the case. You can also time tasks in both modes, to see how much of an effect dual processors have on the performance of your app.
