Ever since yesterday whenever I play a .mpg file or a .wmv file in any browser (Firefox, Safari, Camino, etc.) there is no sound, just the picture. There is also no sound when I play movies in Quicktime. Flash movies play just fine, however. The only thing that seems to be working for .mpg or .mov files is VLC. What do you guys think the problem could be, and how would I go about fixing it?

I've never had such a weird problem with my Mac before.. And music plays just fine in iTunes and all of my browsers. Also, restarting hasn't helped.

I have Mac OS X 10.4.3 with the latest versions of all browsers.. maybe I will try software update?

Heheh, I posted this topic on a totally different and unrelated forum and got the help I needed.
So for future reference...
Basically, one of the movies I recently played must have changed my audio format, so I had to go into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup and then change the audio output format from 96000.0 Hz to 48000.0 Hz. Now audio in my browsers works just fine.
