trying to get a visual on your request, here's a mockup...

something like that? and just to clarify, that was just a 2 minute PS job with zero intention of doing anything with it.

I like the widgets. I do not like the hide/show
button. Take the current button and recess is slightly. I'm not sure if i like the gloss/wave effect. Maybe it shouldn't be glossy?

Pretty good start Carbon!
The blue widget looks really bad though...it should be the standard toolbar widget, only sunken.
I think the glossy effect looks cool, but i don't like the wavy thing at the sides of the title bar.

Funny you should request this, because I have an update for SmoothStripes in the works and among the news is a gloss version. Although it's not the same gloss as in carbons mockup.

Other than that I'm also in the processs of updating some aqua objects that still have the 10.0-10.1 aqua style.

That's great news Max, Smooth Stripes is definitely my favorite theme ever.
I hope you use the sunken widgets in a version of the update.

Cool Max, can't wait to try out this new version, I hope Apple will realise that the stripes where a mistake, the complete GUI looks so much more polished with the smoothstripes theme. I use the total opaque version on my iBook and I think it makes the GUI faster, the difference is really noticable on my iBook 366 mhz. Keep up the good work

Nice one!

Looks like we might have a variety of like themes to choose from as I'm in the process of making one in the style of my site's header (click on the sig). But then again, chances are Max's will kick a$$ as usual (this'll be my first theme).

Oooo, first post here too. What a day for firsts... And BTW, smoothstripes is by far the best theme ever! Thanks Max!

It would seem someone already has a glossy, stripe-less Aqua:

That is Rene. I give him my preview builds, because he gives good suggestions.

The apple menu and the x-+ are from my brushed theme and those titlebars are new for SS Gloss.

How about a smooth dark theme? I loved the old BBX ones with the black and blue colors. Like:
