Is there any way to disable this? If I have the phone in my pocket, I don't think you should need to hit the "home" button and then do the slide to unlock thing. That "home" button is not going to be accidently hit.

I'd rather just hit the "sleep" button right before I stick it back in my pocket. I know there's an option to disable the auto locking, but it still "locks" the phone when you hit the sleep button no matter what option you set.

I don't think there is a way to disable the slide to lock option. The auto lock is to set a timeout I think.

I think instead of having just "slide to unlock" they should have multiple sliders that take you directly to a particular phone feature. Something like "Slide to make phone call" which would take you directly to your favorites. Or "Slide to send SMS." It would cut down on the number of steps required to make a call or perform other common functions by quite a bit.

i think they should have at least one programmable button for your favorite feature . . . . email, phone call, text messaging . . i will had to admit, it's kind of annoying when you have to go through multiple steps to check stuff

I second that....except it wouldn't be bad to have it in both places.

Yes, I concur, it would be an improvment!

I love this idea, but it does kind of go against Apple's simplicity edict. One button mouse anyone?

Well, there are places where simplicity helps, and places where it doesn't. They didn't insist on one button on the home screen, did they?
