Ok, nix that, if a lawyer decided to show up for just the arraignment and did nothing else with your case but still wanted paid, is that not the same as a server showing up to take your order, have another person bring your food to you and not coming back again?

That's an interesting comparison since most of the big lawyers hardly do anything themselves.

Big or Small someone still has to be there for court, arraignment, sentencing, and to talk to you in between all these things. Someone still has to do all the paperwork.
