Anybody know of a nice converter to convert movies on my computer that are in .avi to dvd so that I may be able to burn them?

I'm pretty sure VisualHub can do it. If not, Roxio's Toast definitely can.

Another vote for Toast as a powerfull all-in-one for that.

Another vote for Toast. It will also compress longer video files to fit on a standard DVD. And you can really trust it in the automatic mode to make the conversions perfectly. If you can play the file on your mac, Toast can burn it.

Well sweet, mostly because I already have Toast Titanium 8 is there a certain button I should be clicking or something I think I am missing something.

*Edit*
After some looking is it the export option then select that file to burn to a disc to play in a DVD player?

iMovie will only read DV files.


If you do not want to pay for Toast, ffmpeg/ffmpegX will do this.

Not true. But it really depends on what the OPs AVI is wrapping, now doesn't it? My still camera takes motion JPEG as AVI. They work great in iMovie.

If this is something off the 'net chances are it's incompatible, but still worth a shot, wouldn't you say?
