Hi I have been using my Macbook for a while now, and so far everythings been relatively easy to find out. Although I'm having some trouble figuring out how to password protect files in my Home folder. Is there a way to simply password protect a folder without having to use a disk image.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

All of the files in your home folder are already password protected.

Really? I didn't think they were encrypted, which is what I presume the OP means.

Okay so if I have a folder on the desktop, is it possible to password protect it?
So when I click on it, it asks for a password similar to an encrypted RAR file.

You can use an encrypted Disk Image for that.

Password protected if you enable password protection (many people don't) but not encrypted unless you use FileVault which has a reputation for not being 100% reliable.

Unfortunately no, but I really wish they will bring that feature back in 10.5... It's a real pain to have to create a disk image, guess the right size needed, copy the files, delete the original files...

There are disk images that grow dynamically in size.
