never thought of this before, but the default option in security is "ask for password on wake from sleep or screensaver".

what if i want this ONLY when waking from sleep? so if my screensaver kicks in, my mac would NOT ask for a password...

any way to do this?

I honestly don't think that there is, perhaps you get it working the way you wanting by using a specialized utility specifically for that problem. My best guess is using Mac Pilot, here is a link : Mac Pilot - Enable Hidden Features and Optimize Your System

found a freeware app at versiontracker, 'utility lock' that allows me to set a password for wake from sleep...and i can use my screensaver without locking the mac.
