In the last couple of months ive been lucky enough to come across some great movies that i watched through and after college. Many were not blockbuster hits(to the best of my knowledge) but had a sorta cult appeal to me anyway. Either way they were all HILARIOUS. Thought i'd share the list and encourage you guys to do the same...

Bowfinger

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Clerks 2

Chasing Amy

The Big Lebowski

Young Frankenstein

Enjoy

Cult movies? They're blockbusters!

It made me chuckle.

Oh, another suggestion: Brain Candy (the Kids In The Hall movie), which I saw on Netflix recently. Not as terrible as I expected. A lot of it was meh, but some scenes were inspired.

Depends on how good your sense of humour is.

I admit, I missed the "comedy" bit in the title. My bad.

I saw that Doofy had posted and was shocked to find he hadn't posted about EITHER "Spinal Tap" OR "Bad News"

Shocked, I tell you.

Heh. Bad News was TV rather than movie though, wasn't it?

And Tap isn't comedy - it's a documentary.

I admit to immediately thinking of this film when I read your thread title.

It's laugh-out-loud, cryingly funny in many scenes.

I know it's not a comedy per se, but in some circles "Goodfellas" has become a comedic classic.

more traditional comedies:

Fatso with Dom DeLuise
Living In Oblivion with Steve Buscemi
Banzai with Takeshi Kitano
大日本人 Dai Nihon jin (The Big Japanese person)

Noted for future reference.

A few more Japanese cult classics:

OH!スーパーミルクチャン - Super Milk chan (not to be confused with the ravaged Adult Swim English version that made no sense)
ちびまる子ちゃん - Chibi Maruko chan - live action comedy taken from the classic manga
のだめカンタービレ Nodame the Cantabile - live action comedy from the classic manga - this is a gem

In Bruges. It's one of my favorite movies. Never thought I'd say that about a movie starring Colin Farrell, but there you go. If you like dark comedies, give it a watch.

Great list - except for Overboard. Wha?!?

Dr. Strangelove is probably the greatest comedy/satire of all time, IMHO. Spinal Tap is number 2...

Also...

Annie Hall
Lost in America
Modern Romance
Repo Man
Buckaroo Banzai (I only like this, but it's regarded as quintessential)
Brazil

Here's my vote for "Used Cars."

Rotten Tomatoes rates it 78% Fresh!

Jack Warden stars as Luke and Roy L. Fuchs--feuding used car-selling twin brothers who square off in an outrageous, all-out attempt to put each other out of business. Rudy Russo (Kurt Russell), Luke's star salesman, is doing all the lying and cheating that he can in the name of the cause, but only in preparation for what he feels is his true calling--a career in politics! You'll howl at the proceedings, which involve strippers on television and a 200-car chase that turns into a full-on demolition derby. Director Robert Zemeckis (BACK TO THE FUTURE, CAST AWAY) also assembled a first-rate supporting cast (featuring Michael McKean, Joe Flaherty, and Gerritt Graham) for this raunchy, action-packed, and hilarious cult favorite.

I am seriously questioning the "cult" status of some of these films. Such as any John Hughes film.

This is excellent.

As someone who has worked on many films like the one portrayed there, it hits a little too close to home. I've worked with people who were like all the characters in that movie, and have been some of them myself (mostly the guy in the red overalls who dreams of eating a cheesburger).

The James LeGros character (Chad Palomino) is not so loosely based on Brad Pitt BTW.

Blazing Saddles was really good, but nobody mentions History of the World Part 1 ?

The Monty Python films define cult comedy for most Brits. Tops for me is The Meaning of Life.
