Especially when Mail.app will be even more tightly integrated in the OS in Tiger (Spotlight)...

I personally prefer Mail, but I've had some irritating stability problems with it.

One reason for me would be that Mail.app's spamfilter pretty much sucks. Compared to Thunderbird's spamfilter it only recognizes like 60% of my daily spam, Thunderbird has a 100% hit rate. Plus it doesn't support multiple identities for email accounts.
But I still can't use it even though I consider it better than Mail - support for synching it with my Palm is non-existent.

Always good at have an alternative, especially one from a quality foundation such as Mozilla.
