You could have had this news on Wednesday along with everyone else if you read MacNN instead of MacCentral...

SWEEEEETTT!!!!!!!

I'm gonna go nuts when I get this game I think it looks awesome.

I just hope it supports GLIDE.

Anyway, what I'm going to do is turn off all the lights, lock myself in my dorm, and drop a couple hits of acid and play it. Hehehehehe

It's a Quake 3-engine game, so it supports OpenGL. I'll make sure 16-bit texture support works well so you can have that "Glide look" though.

Thank you Brad. Now Ca$h and I can play it on our iMacs with Voodoo2 cards. Whooohoooo. I've been praying this game would come to the Mac. Thank you so much for bringing it to us.

Do Q3a or Elite Force work on your Voodoo2 cards? I've heard about some issues with GL games acting wacky on Voodoo2 cards, but I've never had one to test on. Any additional info would be welcome.

Quake 3A plays just fine on my Voodoo2 card, but I haven't had the chance to see Elite Force on it. FAKK2 also plays fairly well, although I'm getting a little underwhelmed with its performance on my G3/266. There is one confirmed issue, however, and that is the presence of weird lighting artifacts in the game (most notably, whenever there is a light beam shining on something. I can post a screen if you wish). The Readme says that this is a product of a bug in the drivers, and will not likely be fixed given the recent happenings over at 3dfx.

Ditto here. Quake 3 works fairly well on my iMac Gamewizard Voodoo2. I don't have Elite Force though, so I can't comment.

You can grab a demo of Elite Force and give it a spin on your Voodoo2.

Hmmm another mundane game from the PC world makes it to the Mac.

Alice looks very good, sounds very good, but plays badly. Its a linear shoot-and-hop fest. Frankly, I would not pay money for this game and recommend others away from it.

Elite Force is a much better game, but unfortunatly is a little short.

So how come we keep getting big-budget crap and nobody ever ports Rollercoaster Tycoon? ;-)
