I like your spirit lycaon. I had one computer up to about 320 W/Us. Then I added about 34 older computers to help out with the W/Us total. This really killed my average, but W/Us are the name of the game.

Look, wlonh, I know that you're joshin', but see, my polar bear don't know that. And when he gets p'd off, it's hard to keep the peace in this here igloo!

brock, hopefully I'll have some good W/U numbers for you guys soon, but I'm going to need a few months before I can hit 300. It looks like I can get about 3 per day. I'll let it run non-stop and see how that goes.

I know the feeling. I joined the team in 55th place. When we started getting all of the new team members, I was pushed down the list. Of course it's a team effort and I don't want to complain too much.
Now I am clawing my way back up the list just to reach 55th place again. Oh, lon, thanks for the hints on how to tweak SETI.
Let's kick some windoze a**.

yeah pretty disgraceful alright...

personal standings and flash are not why anyone should be running seti on a team (there is no 'I' in TEAM, remember)... the idea is to contribute whatever you can no matter how small (or large) a contribution to the TEAM so we can spur on fellow mac teams running seti and thereby make the mac platform look that much better, eh? chomp chomp crunch crunch, the mac is a monster!

personal glory? you need seti to give you your 'fifteen minutes'?

yikes. scary.

I think Lon is right it's about teams spirit and, right now, I'd like to confess that not all of my units were sent by Macs. There was ONE unit that was sent from our Pentium II 300. 90 hours. Shortly after that it died in the usual windows way and it can't network at all now. And that, children, is why I use Mac. Go Team MacNN!

I agree with Moof. I see no problem with a little healthy compitition. Sure, the guys from berkeley want the results of all the work we put into Seti@home. But!!! Tell me why they keep records of your stats and make them available? Even more so, why do they have a "join a team" option as well? They needed people to get involved and by setting up a compitition for their users.

Moof is a very competitive person and that's the kind of people I want on the team that I'm on. I see nothing wrong with people showing and expressing interest in what they do or accomplish. Besides, the reasons I added all those slower machines were to pad my W/U results and to be more competitive while standing firm on a team that supports a view or interest that I have.

Look at any kind of team in history. I'm a huge baseball fan and I like to read the history of baseball as well. 1961 NY Yankees- Mantle vs. Maris friendly Home Run compitition that made the team better. As well as the 27 Bronx Bombers Ruth vs. Gehrig for batting average. Their are numerous occasions that compitition within a team inspired teammates to work harder. Which again makes a team stronger.

Keep cranking out the W/Us Moof!!! At the rate you're going, who knows where you'll be in a short while .

"I" is a stupid pronoun people use to call themselves. That's all!

I = Brock! There sure is a Brock that is part of Team MacNN!! As well as for anyone else on the team.

But I can see your point too Lon. It could really get viscious if it's not kept in check.
