I have a garage full of metal parts from old plumbing elbows, nails, screws, washers, and other related junk. Some of it is plastic, but most is metal. Most are under the one foot mark.
Where to dispose of it?
I just got rid of a lot of old paint at my local hazardous waste plant, but not sure if they take the metal stuff (forgot to ask).

I often wondered what happens to your coffee can full of screws and nails when you die.

curbside recycling takes it all in my city. all plastics (any number now) as well as metals.
the ONLY thing our city's services won't take: aluminum foil
but everything else, they take. even tires (cut up).

nyc has a designated day for heavy duty garbage like what you have, don't know if you a similar municipal pick up.

If its metal, weigh it in.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

That makes more sense.
I figure your city can't remain solvent, curbside recycling gets the axe.

post it for free on craigslist, a scrapper in an overloaded ford truck will stop by and pick it all up in very little time.

If your city is populated enough, scrappers ply the alleys on a continual basis.
If I know it's something they want, I'll usually leave it by the dumpster.

If you're skint, load the car and weigh it in at a yard. If its enough to need a trailer, its definitely worth borrowing one.
If you just want the space without the hassle, someone will collect it for free in a heartbeat, just make sure there is nothing you want to keep on show when they collect it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Selling it probably isn't an option as it is not that much. Maybe 1 five gallon bucket-full. Probably leave it in some alley next to a garage so someone can use it.
